Planning an outdoor wedding? Here is what you should know.

Simple tips to help you plan your outdoor wedding.

1. Tent up or have a backup plan ready

If you are having an outdoor wedding, then chances are you will want overhead cover. Sail top or pole tents can be staked at any space. You will want to have an electrician to check out the space before lighting up your tent. They will make sure you have passed all the regulations, and can make any recommendations on whether you will need to hire a generator (no one wants a black out!).

Consult with your local rental company to figure out what style suits you best and works well with the venue’s spatial constraints. Check with your venue, if they will allow your rental tent company to setup a few days before your wedding so it can keep the ground dry instead of being soggy and wet.

If tents are over your budget then consider choosing a venue that has an indoor space. If it is due to rain, have a backup plan ready to move inside your venue at least 24-48 hours before your wedding day.

2. Weather

If you are going with the tent option, the best way to protect your guests from wind and rain is to have wall panels. In addition, you may want to add floor surfaces for uneven ground. For a hot summer outdoor wedding without a tent, consider stand alone umbrellas that are at least two metres wide when open. During winter to keep guests warm, you may want to consider tall patio or propane heathers.

3. Prepare guests for an outdoor wedding

Let your guests know that you will be having an outdoor wedding in your invitation. This will help your guests make decisions on what attire they can wear or whether or not they need to bring any extra layers. If your outdoor wedding will be taking place on grass, have heel stoppers on hand for guests who will be wearing stilettos (you would not want them to sink into the ground!).
