What can I expect from my bridal party?
The bridal party is made up of the bride’s closest friends and family. The bridal party typically includes the maid of honour, matron of honour, bridesmaids, flower girls, and ring bearers. The groom’s side typically includes the best man, groomsmen, ushers, and the groom’s father.
Being able to count on a great group of bridesmaids to help you with wedding planning is a huge plus, but you should be careful not to harm your friendship or go beyond the boundaries of bridesmaid duties.
The ideal guiding principle? Do not ask your bridesmaids to help you with anything that you are not willing to assist with yourself. Leave it to the experts if that is what is best. For example, asking them to pay $1,000 booking retainer (for your hens night) if they simply cannot afford it.
Don’t have your bridesmaids pay for anything that isn’t directly related to their duties and avoid having them do work that is uncomfortable (e.g., firing a vendor). They offer affection, support, and assistance to a certain extent.
